Shahnawaz Farooqui
Renowned
intellectual and analyst Shahnawaz Farooqui was born in Karachi in 1964.
He did his Bachelors in Mass Communication from Karachi University in 1986
securing First Class Second Position. Masters in Mass Communication was
completed in 1988 in which he secured First Class First Position.
Shahnawaz
Farooqui started his professional career by writing stories for
children in Monthly ‘Aankh Micholi’, which he continued for three and a
half years. Initially his writings were humorous in nature which were highly
appreciated by children and teenagers.
Gradually
he started writing on more serious issues and joined a reputed Daily Urdu
Newspaper. His views were applauded to a magnificent extent and in a very short
period of time he became famous for his clear standpoints. Very soon, Mr.
Shahnawaz was invited by Mir Shakil-ur-Rehman to work as a
columnist in Daily Jang Karachi. He demanded complete freedom of speech for his
articles, which Jang refused to provide and stated that they cannot guarantee
complete freedom of speech. Therefore, Mr. Shanawaz denied the
offer and did not compromise on this issue.
At
the moment, he is professionally working in a reputed Urdu Daily as an analyst
and hosts program “Makalma” for Roshni TV. From time to time, he
delivers lectures on various issues on various TV channels and in universities.
His
areas of interest include English and Urdu Literature, Poetry, Political
Analysis, Religion, West, Civilization and numerous uncountable domains. His
standpoints are very clear on all the issues.
“Kaghaz
Kay Sipahi” and “Akabir-e-Sahafat” are two books
written by Shahnawaz Farooqui – first one published by
Research Academy and second by Department of Mass Communication Karachi
University.
